Valerie Brisco, who won three gold medals in the 1984 Olympics as a sprinter, strained her right Achilles tendon in last Friday’s Sunkist indoor track meet and will be out of action for up to five weeks according to Bob Kersee, her coach and manager.

“I hope to resume indoor competition in mid-February,” Brisco said.

The First World Indoor Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Mar. 6-8, and “I hope to be in top form by then, Brisco added.”

Brisco won gold medals in the women’s 200- and 400-meter runs and ran the third leg on the victorious 1,600-meter relay team.
