Swedish police arrested three men suspected of involvement in Prime Minister Olof Palme’s assassination last Feb. 28, but later released them for lack of evidence. A police statement said the suspects were associated with the Kurdish Workers Party, a Marxist group. Despite the release, Stockholm Police Chief Hans Holmer indicated publicly for the first time that he believes a link exists between the Kurdish party and Palme’s killing. The party was declared a terrorist group by the Palme government in 1984, but its members were allowed to remain in Sweden.
