Homeless Group Takes Over Vacant Repossessed House

Share

Three men and a woman from a group representing the homeless broke into a vacant house in South-Central Los Angeles this morning and announced their plans to furnish it and turn it over to a homeless family that is living in a car.

David Silva of the nationwide activist group, Union of the Homeless, said the two-bedroom house on South Denker Avenue has been repossessed by the Veterans Administration. His group plans to take over vacant VA homes across the country to provide housing for homeless veterans.

Neighbors welcomed the group today with coffee and doughnuts, but VA officials say they will take legal action against the activists if they do not agree to leave the home.
