P.V. Estates : Imitation Wood Roofs OKd

Share

The Palos Verdes Homes Assn. has received the two-thirds vote of property owners it needed to amend decades-old deed restrictions. The amendments allow homeowners to use fire-retardant materials that look like wood in place of tile or shingle roofs, which have been required in the community since development began in 1923.

Balloting by mail started in November. The association sponsored the amendment for safety reasons. President Harry M. Brandel Jr. said it will take several weeks to put the amendment into effect. The association regulates deed restrictions and architectural standards for 5,115 properties in Palos Verdes Estates and 360 homes in the Miraleste section of Rancho Palos Verdes. About half of the homes have shingles.
