Gish Biomedical Reports $201,582 Quarterly Net

Gish Biomedical Inc., a Santa Ana-based medical products manufacturer, reported net earnings of $201,582 for its fiscal 1987 second quarter, compared with a loss of $178,343 a year earlier. Revenues for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 41% to $2.4 million from the year-ago $1.7 million.

For the first six months, Gish recorded profits of $251,628, compared with a loss of $299,192 for the prior year’s period. Six-month revenues were up 47% to $4.4 million from $3 million.

Jeanne Miller, Gish’s chief financial officer, attributed the increased earnings and sales to a broader acceptance of the company’s cardiovascular devices, used to support the heart and lungs during open heart surgery.

Miller said one-time computer and research equipment expenses were the primary causes of the company’s six-month loss during fiscal 1986.
