Basketball’s best road show, the Lakers, will be out to complete a sweep of their five-game trip when they play the Dallas Mavericks this afternoon in a nationally televised game (Channels 2 and 8, 12:30 p.m.).

The Lakers have won six straight overall and at 32-8 have the league’s best record. The team with the second-best record in the Western Conference is Dallas, which beat the Lakers here Dec. 20, 130-119, when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was unable to play because of an inflammation in his eye.

The Mavericks, who beat the New York Knicks by 20 points Wednesday night, have split their last 10 games. Top draft choice Roy Tarpley, the 7-footer from Michigan, had his best game of the season with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks.
