Stripes to Race Kookaburra III

FREMANTLE, Australia —
Kookaburra III, a winner in the defenders final, was selected today to defend the America’s Cup for Australia, ending days of speed trials.
Kookaburra III was picked by the Royal Perth Yacht Club race committee over stablemate Kookaburra II and will meet America’s Stars & Stripes in the best-of-seven series starting Jan. 31. Speed trials plus computer analysis determined the final selection.
