Western Digital Acquires Most Assets of ViaNetix Inc.

Western Digital Corp. said that it has acquired most of the assets of ViaNetix Inc., in a $2.2-million deal designed to add new software to Western Digital’s product line.

ViaNetix, based in Boulder, Colo., is a privately held maker of local area network (LAN) system software. LAN systems are used to link computers and peripherals, generally in microcomputer systems used in small businesses.

Western Digital Corp. is a maker of computer systems and is based in Irvine.
