Dollar Coins

In regard to the article (Jan. 9) about changing the design of the Canadian dollar coin, it would be great if we made a dollar-sized coin to replace the $1 bill in the United States, as our paper dollar only lasts about 18 months.

If a little care was taken in this respect we might not duplicate the mistake of the Susan B. Anthony coin that was made in the millions, which the mint is storing and showing as an asset rather than admitting that they made a mistake and recycling the metal.

A dollar-size coin that is acceptable in the United States is one that is the size of the Eisenhower dollar that was made in the 1970s.
