Help Poor Nations, Vatican Says

VATICAN CITY —
The Vatican today said the world’s rich nations must share the blame for the debts of poorer nations and offer them help instead of demanding repayment that threatens their survival.
“Debt servicing cannot be met at the price of the asphyxiation of a country’s economy and no government can morally demand of its people privations incompatible with human dignity,” the Pontifical Commission for Justice and Peace said.
