The nation’s largest chemical firm, Wilmington, Del.-based Du Pont Co., said poor results in its energy division contributed to a reduction in profit of 11% in the fourth quarter, but stronger chemical business results tempered the decline. The company’s overall sales fell because of the slump in oil prices, with fourth-quarter revenue down 12% and annual revenue down 8%. Energy operating income fell 66% in the quarter and 34% in the year.
