Officials facing $100,000 in costs from Saturday’s march by 20,000 civil rights advocates have decided that the organizers should pay the bill for any future marches.

The Cumming City Council and the Forsyth County Commission adopted identical parade permit ordinances Tuesday night. They require organizers of public demonstrations to set up escrow accounts to cover the cost of overtime for law enforcement officers, road crews and maintenance workers.

The ordinances, effective immediately, will require organizers of future marches to submit an application 15 days in advance showing the name of the organization, any previous arrests of participants, the intended route and the number of expected marchers.
