PDA Engineering Posts 17% Drop in Net Income

PDA Engineering, a Costa Mesa software design company, reported net earnings of $385,000 for the second quarter of its fiscal 1987, a 17% drop from $464,000 posted a year ago. Revenues for the quarter ended Dec. 31 climbed 34% to $5.8 million from $4.3 million.

Six-month earnings of $643,000 were down 30.3% from $923,000 recorded a year earlier. Revenue for the period totaled $10.7 million, up 35.4% from $7.9 million.

The company attributed the earnings decrease to a reduction in the company’s periodic income from the sale of an operating unit three years ago and to an increase in the firm’s tax rate as a result of changes in federal tax laws.
