Computer Automation Reports Dramatic Gain

Crediting its recent reorganization and consolidation, Computer Automation Inc., an Irvine electronics manufacturer, reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $308,000, a dramatic improvement over the $2.2 million loss in the previous year. It was the third consecutive quarterly profit for the once-struggling maker of automatic test equipment for the electronics industry.

Revenues for the period ended Dec. 31 were $5.2 million, about 2% higher than the $5.1 million recorded the year before.

For the six-month fiscal period, profits were $596,000, compared with a loss of $5.7 million the year before. Revenues were $10.5 million, up 5% from the $10 million posted the prior year.
