Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat hailed his meeting with Jordan’s King Hussein at the Islamic summit in Kuwait as opening a new page in their relations, the Abu Dhabi newspaper Al Ittihad reported. The newspaper quoted the Palestine Liberation Organization chief as saying in an interview that he and Hussein had agreed that a joint Jordanian-Palestinian committee on Palestinian affairs would meet in Amman soon. There was no immediate comment from Hussein. Arafat’s meeting with the king last week was the first between the two men since Hussein last February suspended a joint Jordanian-PLO Middle East peace plan.
