Meese’s Attack on Miranda Rule

Share

On the so-called Miranda rule: To me, law enforcement against those who violate our laws is nothing more than another form of warfare. Requiring that captured suspects be given a warning against self-incrimination is a little like catching your enemy with his gun out of bullets then giving him time to reload.

Why, oh why, should we give our “enemy” a chance to reload? Why give him any quarter? That there are others able to pay for clever defense lawyers doesn’t change one thing. You do all you can to win over the enemy while keeping your losses (costs) to a minimum. Only a lawyer would argue otherwise.
