Canada’s Ben Johnson and Angella Issajenko-Taylor each established world indoor bests in the 50-meter dash at the Winternational Indoor Games Saturday night.

Johnson’s time of 5.55 seconds beat the 5.61 clocking for the distance established in 1973 by Manfred Kokot of East Germany.

Johnson survived two false starts before blowing away the field in the last event of the meet. One of the false starts was called after the four finalists had run about 40 meters.
