Iran said 68 schoolgirls were killed and 150 people were injured when Iraqi jets attacked two schools in the city of Mianeh, 250 miles northwest of Tehran. Other reports said Iraqi jets struck five towns and cities in what Tehran called a “psychological war” that has killed 2,000 civilians and injured 7,000 since Jan. 9. Iran’s official news agency said an Iraqi jet was shot down during a dogfight north of the city of Arak and that the pilot bailed out but was captured by angry local residents, who executed him “in a revolutionary manner.”
