First Boston Inc., an international investment banking firm, posted a 38.6% increase in profit for the year ended Dec. 31, 1986. Revenue in 1986 was up 47.4%. The firm’s 1986 performance reflected the momentum in the world capital markets, a spokesman said. Together with partner Credit Suisse First Boston Limited, the firm again was the leader in global capital raising. Domestically, all of business segments made excellent progress with investment banking and equities leading the way, he added.
