A doctor with AIDS has been suspended to avoid “frightening the community” after he turned down a transfer that would have reduced his contacts with patients, a hospital official said. The Cook County Board of Commissioners, which oversees the operation of Cook County Hospital in Chicago, voted to suspend the doctor with pay temporarily, said Terrence Hansen, the hospital’s executive director.
