2 W. Germans, 3 Guides Die on Climb in Chile
From Reuters
SANTIAGO, Chile —
Two West German tourists and three Chileans were found dead Tuesday close to the peak of a volcano they had been attempting to climb in southern Chile, police in Santiago said.
The Germans had set out with two Canadians and the three Chilean guides to climb the 750-foot Osorno volcano last Friday. But the party ran into bad weather.
The two Canadians, Arnold John Williams and Scott Daarsrey, had turned back on Saturday due to the difficult conditions and informed authorities that the others were in trouble.
