Tenneco Inc. of Houston reported a drop in income from continuing operations for 1986, compared to 1985, and decreasing earnings per average common share from continuing operations. Net loss for 1986, after special items, was higher than the year before. Increases in operating income for the company’s manufacturing and natural resource related businesses essentially offset the decline in operating income in the energy segment, and operating results for the company as a whole remained about even with 1985, a spokesman said.
