Former baseball star Denny McLain, who has served nearly two years of a 23-year sentence for racketeering, will seek a resentencing hearing on grounds of a technical error by a judge.
McLain, baseball’s last 30-game winner, has been in federal prison since his conviction March 16, 1985, for racketeering and conspiracy involving loan sharking, bookmaking, extortion and cocaine dealing.
Briefs filed said that the judge erred at sentencing when she failed to rule specifically on disputed points in a so-called victim impact statement.
