Lindsay Named Projects Editor

John P. Lindsay, acting editor of the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner, has resigned to accept the newly created position of projects editor for View, Calendar and the special sections of The Times, it was announced Wednesday by Times Editor William F. Thomas.

Lindsay has been with the Herald for more than 15 years and has held several executive positions, including executive news editor and, since 1981, managing editor. He was named the Herald’s acting editor one year ago.

At The Times, Lindsay will coordinate special projects for the Real Estate, Travel, Food and Book Review sections in addition to View and Calendar and the three Sunday magazines, Sunday Calendar, Television Times and Los Angeles Times Magazine.

He will report to Jean Sharley Taylor, associate editor, and Shelby Coffey III, deputy associate editor.

Lindsay, 37, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA. He is single and lives in Santa Monica.
