The Region : Administrator’s Probate Powers Lifted

Share

A Nevada court suspended the probate powers of Janet McKinzie. The companion and business manager for the late owner of North America Savings & Loan Assn. agreed to the move, initiated by the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corp. The firm was seized by state regulators Jan. 16 and the FSLIC put it into receivership Jan. 23. As a potential creditor, the FSLIC sought to have McKinzie removed as special administrator of the last will of Duayne D. Christensen, the one-time Westminster dentist who died in a single-car crash hours before the Jan. 16 takeover. McKinzie is the sole beneficiary of Christensen’s will and a trust, both of which were set up three days before his death. FSLIC sources said she also is the beneficiary on a $10-million life insurance policy Christensen had. McKinzie was reportedly in a rest home until last weekend and now is on a one-week vacation. Her lawyer has declined comment.
