Driesell Reveals Meeting With East Carolina
Former Maryland coach Lefty Driesell said Thursday that he had met with some members of the East Carolina board of trustees to discuss the head basketball coaching position at the university. But he said taking the job would be “a longshot.”
Driesell, who declined to name the trustees, told a newspaper that the meeting was “all very preliminary.” Both East Carolina University Chancellor John M. Howell and trustee board chairman Ralph Kinsey Jr. said they were unaware of any meeting.
Driesell resigned as Maryland’s coach last October in the aftermath of the cocaine-induced death of All-American Len Bias.
