Negotiators plan to return to the bargaining table Tuesday to try and resolve the salary dispute between the teachers’ union and the Los Angeles Unified School District. However, comments from both a district spokesman and those for the United Teachers of Los Angeles indicated little prospect of progress when the two sides resume talks with a state mediator present. A spokesman for the teachers, who are seeking a 14% pay raise, threatened more walkouts, similar to a boycott held last Thursday, if the district doesn’t improve its offer of a 7% increase.
