Mississippi's Democrats will join about a dozen other Southern states in a Super Tuesday presidential primary in March, 1988, party officials said in Jackson. The March 8, 1988, primary will replace the state's traditional caucus system, state Chairman Steve Patterson said. The Super Tuesday primary, which will follow candidate nominations in New Hampshire and Iowa, is designed to force presidential hopefuls to spend more time campaigning in the South and give the South a greater say in selecting a presidential candidate.
