“No More Slavery.” The Fugs. New Rose (AAD). It may come as a surprise to learn that this quintessential radical underground band of the late ‘60s is still alive, well and using synthesizers in the ‘80s. With founding members Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg still aboard, the group now sings about Central America, South Africa, AIDS and other hot ‘80s topics in these 11 recent studio tracks and six live songs. The left-wing musings occasionally degenerate into humorless diatribes, but for the most part the Fugs’ savage wit remains its saving grace. Sound quality: excellent.
