Jules Bergman Found Dead
Jules Bergman, science editor for ABC News, whom the nation came to know through his coverage of the early space launches, was found dead today in a bathtub at his Manhattan home, apparently of natural causes, police said. He was 57.
Bergman was known to suffer from “numerous brain tumors and seizures” and took medicine for epilepsy, said Police Sgt. Norris Holloman.
Bergman was found in a bathtub “with scalding hot water running but the drain open,” said Holloman, adding that an autopsy would be conducted.
Bergman joined ABC in 1953 and covered many of the space shots from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
