San Clemente : Bomb Hoax Forces Students Off Campus

Share

About 2,100 San Clemente High School students were told to leave the campus Thursday after an unidentified caller threatened to set off several bombs in the school if classes were not dismissed Thursday and Friday, authorities said.

The threat was a hoax, said San Clemente Police Lt. Al Ehlow, since a bomblike device found in the boys locker room proved to be non-explosive. Authorities searched the campus, at 700 Avenida Pico, for hours but no other devices were found, Ehlow said.

The students, who had been waiting inside the school’s football stadium after a search there, were told to go home at 12:45 p.m. and to return to school today, Principal James F. Krembas said.
