BANGKOK, Thailand —
An unidentified assailant hurled a hand grenade into a crowd of revelers at a Buddhist temple near Thailand’s border with Laos, killing six people and wounding 48, authorities said Thursday.
The temple was packed with revelers on the eve of the Buddhist holiday of Makha Puja.
The Bangkok Word newspaper quoted provincial police Supt. Banchong Sattham as saying the explosion was preceded by a quarrel between two rival groups.
