The World : Anti-Israel Strife Hurts 17
Seventeen people, including seven Israeli soldiers, were wounded as anti-Israeli violence continued in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israel radio said that five Arabs were shot by Israeli civilians who were caught in an Arab rock-throwing demonstration in Gaza City. Three Palestinians were wounded when Israeli soldiers opened fire after being hit by the rocks, the radio report added. Meanwhile, north of Jerusalem, the seven Israeli soldiers were injured when their bus was stoned, and a Palestinian was shot after he tried to escape from an army patrol, a military spokesman said. In the West Bank city of Nablus, a tourist (nationality not known) was hurt when the windshield of her bus was smashed. Unrest has flared among Palestinians protesting what they say is increased Israeli harassment.
