Impeachment Talk Is Back
At last, the big “I” word has appeared on the Editorial Pages of The Times. Irons gathers up his courage on behalf of many of us to speak of impeachment, in the face of criminal action by the President (conspiracy to injure or destroy property of a foreign country, as in the mining of Nicaraguan waters and harbors, and furnishing money for military expeditions against another country), and subversion of the Constitution.
It has seemed lately as if our fellow citizens cannot see the emperor’s nakedness, but it seemed that way with Nixon also for a time. Peter Irons has done us a favor.
