The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. announced that it will accept public health messages about AIDS that include information about condoms but said it will not accept advertising for condoms. “The board (of directors) feels AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is a serious disease, but certain ways of avoiding it are controversial. We would not accept any message that would condone casual or illicit sex,” network spokesman Richard Chambers said. The network said that it will only accept AIDS messages from public health organizations and that the messages must also mention self-restraint as a means of avoiding the disease.
