The producers of “Days of Our Lives” may have taken the soap’s plot too fur this time: In early April they will present the first on-air canine wedding.

When Calliope’s (played by Arlene Sorkin) dog Martha gets pregnant--by a stray, no less--the dippy manager of Blondie’s nightclub demands a shotgun wedding. Family friend Neil Curtis (Joe Gallison) insists it take place in his mansion. What else does a nice doctor have to do with his time? After all, his wife, Liz (Gloria Loring), just left him!

“Days” couturier Lee Smith, who will design the bitch’s wedding attire, told us: “I’ve dressed a lot of dogs in my time, but this is the first one with four legs!”
