Israel tried three times to persuade India to jointly attack a nuclear reactor in Pakistan but was rebuffed, according to a report Sunday in the Jerusalem Post. The plant, believed capable of producing nuclear weapons, is at Kahuta outside Islamabad. The report cited “top-level political analysts” in London and said that the proposals were made in recent years. It added that Israel opposes any Muslim country having nuclear arms and fears that Pakistan might be taken over by Islamic fundamentalists. Israeli bombers destroyed a nuclear reactor in Iraq in June, 1981.
