Youths Use Sheets in Snow to Flee to West

MUNICH, West Germany —
Two East Germans escaped to West Germany today draped in white sheets to make themselves invisible in snow covering the fortified frontier zone, border police said.
The two men, aged 18 and 20, set off East German alarms but were so well camouflaged that guards failed to spot them before they could scale the border fence, a spokesman said.
