S. Korea Dissident Curbed

SEOUL, South Korea —
Police put dissident leader Kim Dae Jung and eight supporters under house arrest Tuesday, one day before a planned rally to protest the alleged torture of government opponents, Kim’s aides said. The aides said it was the 47th time Kim had been placed under house arrest since he returned in February, 1985, from a two-year exile in the United States.
