S. Korean Students Walk Out on Speech

SEOUL, South Korea — Thousands of students at Seoul National University walked out Thursday during a speech by the education minister in an anti-government protest at an outdoor graduation ceremony.
Most of the 4,000 students receiving bachelors degrees booed Park Bong Shik, the president of the school, and then walked out when Education Minister Sohn Chae Suk began his address, witnesses said.
Faculty sources said the students tried to take a coffin to the ceremony to protest the death of a student last month during police questioning about dissident activity, but the plan apparently was foiled.
