Student Drug Use Probed in Mexico

MEXICO CITY —
About 12% of all high school and university students in Mexico said in a survey they have sampled narcotics at least once, and 1% are addicted, an official of the federal attorney general’s office says.
The official, Agustin Velez Barajas, told the government newspaper El Nacional that the survey by the Mexican Psychiatric Institute showed that addiction in Mexico “is not a serious problem but could become one if we don’t act quickly.”
