Corinne Schmidhauser of Switzerland clinched the World Cup women’s slalom title, posting the fastest times in both runs down a fog-shrouded course to take the last slalom of the season at Zwiesel, West Germany.

Schmidhauser, 22, clinched the title when her closest rival, Tamara McKinney of the United States, dropped out after making a mistake in the second run.

Erika Hess of Switzerland, the defending world slalom champion, placed second, while Roswitha Steiner of Austria was third.

Schmidhauser finished the season with 110 points. McKinney had 99 points and Hess 96.
