If it were only that the old man couldn’t remember what he did on Aug. 8, 1985, things would be bad enough, considering the importance of the events and the office he holds.
But, first, he remembered that he did.
And then, he remembered that he didn’t.
This difference between memory lapse and memory manipulation is the stuff that credibility gaps are made of, and that presidencies fall over.
