Redken Laboratories reported that net income for its second quarter ended Jan. 31 jumped nearly tenfold from the corresponding quarter a year earlier, to $1.1 million, or 38 cents a share. Sales were up 16%, to $29.2 million.
The Canoga Park-based hair-care and cosmetics firm said the earnings gain was caused by higher sales that reflected the successful introduction of several hair-care products. It also said a cost-cutting campaign had begun to pay off.
