Claremont : 3 at Claremont Honored

Three faculty members at Claremont Graduate School have received national awards for their work in the field of education.

Peter F. Drucker, professor of social science, was given the 1987 Britannica Award by Encyclopaedia Britannica last month at a ceremony at the United Nations. Drucker, who also is a columnist for the Wall Street Journal and author of the recently published book, “The Frontiers of Management,” was honored for his “exceptional excellence in the dissemination of learning for the benefit of mankind.”

Howard R. Bowen, professor of economics and education, and Jack H. Schuster, associate professor of education and public policy, received the Frederic W. Ness Book Award for their book, “American Professors: A National Resource Imperiled.” The Ness Award, established by the Assn. of American Colleges, is given annually to authors of a book judged to be the most significant contribution to studies on liberal education.
