Hans Holmer, who led an unsuccessful yearlong hunt for the killer of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, resigned as Stockholm’s police chief after a parliamentary panel was told that police “endangered due process of law” during their investigation of the Feb. 28, 1986, slaying. Holmer was taken off the case on Feb. 4.
