WEST BERLIN — Rudolf Hess, 92, who was Hitler’s World War II deputy and who is now the sole prisoner at West Berlin’s Spandau prison, has been hospitalized with a mild form of bronchitis, authorities said Friday.
Hess, convicted of “conspiring against peace” at the Allied Nuremberg war crimes trials of 1947, was taken to the British military hospital last Sunday.
A spokesman for the four World War II nations that guard him--the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and France--said he was under observation but not in any danger.
