My deep appreciation for your fascinating article, “The New Breed of Missionary” ( Jan. 25, by David DeVoss). One has become accustomed these days to the media’s consistent role as a savager of religion, and one has become used to the inevitable larding of news stories about American religious beliefs and practices with constant rebuttal quotations from anti-God lobbies like the American Civil Liberties Union and People for the American Way. DeVoss’ account came as an enormous, wonderful and moving surprise.
