Glemp Says Poland, Vatican Will Form Ties
Cardinal Jozef Glemp said Monday that Poland and the Vatican will establish diplomatic ties soon--the first between the Communist state and the Holy See since the end of World War II.
“The works aiming at the establishment of diplomatic ties are advanced,” Glemp, the head of Poland’s Roman Catholic Church, told reporters at Okecie Airport on returning from a trip to Belgium, the Vatican, West Germany and Ivory Coast. “I think we shall achieve good results,” he said.
Glemp did not specify when the ties would be established.
