Black Men’s Cancer Risk Highest

Black males in America face the highest risk of developing cancer and American Indians have the lowest risk, apparently because they don’t live long enough, according to an American Cancer Society report released today.

According to the report, 487.9 out of every 100,000 black men will get cancer at some point in their lives, compared to 391.9 white men out of every 100,000. Only 172.3 American Indian men out of every 100,000 will get cancer, the report states. For women, whites are at a slightly higher risk for developing cancer than blacks, the report said. It said 303.2 white women out of every 100,000 and 290.3 black women out of every 100,000 will get the disease.
